Planning an outdoor space takes time and patience. Here are some tips to help you get started whether you are planning to spruce up an existing outdoor space or if you are starting with a blank canvas. Oasis Outdoor Living & Landscapes will help you focus on the end result and not get overwhelmed with the process.

Here is a checklist to keep you on track and ready to realize your dream of an outdoor space you can enjoy for years to come.

Before you get started, take some time to explore the options and consider what your goals are for the space. Do you want an area conducive to entertaining large groups? Are you looking for more of a quiet space to read and reflect?

Take a look at our project gallery to get ideas on what you might like for your outdoor space.

You will also want to consider issues like design schemes and kid-friendliness. Think about entertaining areas outdoors for your kids. As they get older, they want to spend more time with their friends — outdoor living spaces with patios and built in seating including fireplaces or fire pits are great places for friends to gather and socialize. Not only will you have the “cool house” to hangout, you will get to spend more time with your own family too because they won’t always be running over to a “friends” house.

Take a look at some of our Projects to get ideas on what you might like for your own backyard.

Think about how you will use your space and what your goals are for entertaining.

Our team will work with you and help bring your vision to life, whether it is mocking up your design with a 3D drawing or helping you pick out materials. We can easily show you design revisions during the planning process.

What are you currently missing in your backyard that you want? Do you want to start fresh or are you looking to add on to an existing space?

What are your priorities?

  • Are you looking for shade?
  • Do you want more seating?
  • Is privacy your main concern?
  • Is grilling most important?

Consider your budget and we will work with you to find and affordable solution. With creative planning and realistic budgeting will find solutions with our expertise.

Once you have agreed upon the design details, be sure to discuss the particulars of the installation process so that everyone is on the same page in terms of time tables, disruptions and overall expectations.

For many people, this is the “fun” part. Modern outdoor living design mirrors indoor design trends in a number of ways — including furniture, rugs, throw pillows, lighting and decorative accessories.

"The designer was great with her planning of this job and her communication from estimate to completion was great. She asked the right questions to find out what kind of plants I liked at my previous address and what would work in the future for my “new” house. On the day of the work, she also went around the house to see what other needs they might fill that day which led to the use of the extra topsoil plus repositioning of landscape bricks near the bases of two trees. She explained at least two times the watering needs of the new plants. Can’t forget, it was she who asked the crew to incorporate my rocks, fossils, very old watering can, etc. as additions to the new bed. All this looks great, quite a transformation, and I have enjoyed the many compliments received from neighbors and family. They even ask for the company’s name with one person telling me she will give the name to others." - The Roberts Family
